Expedition Diary Pakistan
A long drive the next day took us to Pakistan border where everything is
a lot more relaxed and consequently moves at a much slower pace. The
microlight confused them a little and we camped in the yard for a night
while they sorted the paperwork. A sand storm blew up and filled our
tents and the Land Rovers with sand, it is everywhere and in everything!
It was too dangerous to drive in the storm and we would not make it to a
safe stopping point before dark, so we decided to wait one more day.
The border officials fed us delicious spicy food and gave us a room to
sleep in out of the storm. The guards dutifully watched our vehicles,
once again we were being looked after very well.
We are now on our way to Quetta with a border guard as an escort. His
English isn't great, but he's enjoying Tom Petty and reading our Lonely
Planet, all be it back to front! All we can see is flat desert all
around us, stretching for miles and miles with a few camels dotted here
and there, let's hope we don't break down here! Wish us luck!
