Training Specialist training has been carried out in a number of areas, and will continue to be done until we reach Sydney! Our first experience in off road driving was at Mavis Hall Park, where Keith Kelly patiently went through the basics of if you think you're going too fast, accelerate. We eventually got the hang of it, but our feet still hovered above the clutch too much. A two-day Tropical First Aid course was attended by all eight of us. The mechanics have upped their Land Rover knowledge by replacing the engine and gear box to Pinky at Brooklyn 4x4 garage. Changing the chassis on Mutley and renewing the electrics, breaks and things like that on both Land Rovers. A training weekend (long weekend) in Scotland proved very useful. We practised putting up our Khyam tents after too much beer, and they have to be recommended. There were lots of photo shoots for various Scottish papers and television companies. And we kitted ourselves out with personal kit from Tiso. |
